Recorded for the
first time in 1964 by the Motown’s singer (and secretary) Martha Reeves and her
group The Vandellas as a party song, Dancing
in the Street was also a song surrounded by controversy. Due to its using
at demonstrations as a civil rights anthem to social change, the song led to
some radio stations taking the song off its play list. But all these facts
didn't prevent David Bowie and Mick Jagger to cover this theme as their song,
in duet, for a charity movement, in 1985.
